Psoriasis, Eczema and Vitiligo

Dr Habib is dedicated to finding the most advanced treatments and helping people with problems that concern them and hinder their everyday lives.

Psoriasis affects 1-3% of the population and may start at any age. It is a chronic inflammatory skin condition now known to be due to genetic factors. It causes pink or red raised scaly patches on the skin with a well-defined border. It is not contagious. It is usually chronic and unfortunately relapses can be expected.

Eczema is characterised by itchy patches of dry, red skin which sometimes appear scaly or crusty. The condition can be irritating, uncomfortable, and stress-inducing and in the acute phase small, water-filled blisters may be seen. Later dry scaling occurs.

Vitiligo is a condition in which there is loss of melanin pigment in the skin. It presents as white patches surrounded by normal coloured skin. Areas of de-pigmentation tend to be symmetrical.

Conditions such as Psoriasis, Eczema and Vitiligo can badly affect people’s lives and Dr Habib has studied the conditions and sought out the most effective treatments to combat the problems patients may face.

Facial Scarring

Scars are something many people have to deal with, whether from an injury, surgery, or a skin problem. Although unsightly, they’re an amazing example of the miraculous way your skin heals itself when injured. Scars may be flat or raised, practically invisible or obvious.

Depending on your genetic makeup and the depth and type of tear in your skin, scarring can range from a slightly reddish discoloration to a thick, raised red or dark scar. There are three main types of scars, generally described as flat, indented, or raised.

Flat scars are the most common, and usually occur from everyday injuries or minor burns. Depending on your skin colour, flat scars may be pink to red and eventually fade to very light pink or white or tan coloured to deep brown or black, eventually becoming lighter.

Indented or atrophic scars often result from cystic acne or a bout of chickenpox. If you’ve ever had a deep, painful breakout or chickenpox, chances are you have at least one of these scars. Other names for indented scars are pockmarks, ice pick scars, and depressed scars. These scars result from destruction of the skin’s underlying support structure, which is why they don’t heal as well as flat or raised scars.

Raised hypertrophic scars result from overproduction of collagen in response to injured skin. This type of scarring can result from a slight tear in the skin or from a deep wound, and everything in between. Sometimes referred to as keloid scars, these are more common in persons with dark skin.

Treatment: Depending on the age and severity of scarring, Dr Habib will produce a bespoke programme for you working with one or a combination of the following products and treatments. Osmosis Skincare, Fractora.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a common but poorly understood long-term chronic skin condition that mainly affects the face. Symptoms begin with episodes of flushing but as Rosacea progresses, other symptoms can develop such as burning and stinging sensations, permanent redness, tiny red spots and small blood vessels in the skin becoming visible as fine red lines. In the most severe cases, skin can thicken and enlarge, usually on and around the nose.

Several triggers have been identified that may make the condition worse. These include exposure to sunlight, stress, exercise, cold weather (wind), heat, the menopause, certain medications, such as vasodilator drugs, hot drinks, alcohol and caffeine and eating certain foods, such as spicy foods.

Rosacea is a chronic and relapsing condition, which means you will have periods when their symptoms are particularly bad, followed by periods when the condition is less severe. Some people find they experience feelings of low self-esteem or frustration.

Treatment: Bella Clinic can help you find a way to rebuild the skin’s texture using one or a combination of the following products and treatments. Osmosis Skincare, IPL laser treatment.

Wrinkles and Premature Ageing

As we begin to age, our skin starts to lose its elasticity and due to varying factors, some of us can age faster than others and present with deeper frowns and creases

Frown lines are wrinkles on the forehead that appear between the eyebrows. The appearance of frown lines can worsen as we get older.

Frown lines, along with other facial wrinkling, are usually caused by the interaction of various factors including the aging process, lifestyle, smoking, sun protection and skin care routine as well as some hereditary factors.

Often known as laughter lines, crows feet are wrinkles that start to form from the outer corner of the eyes. They may appear in some people as early as their mid twenties and are more prominent in people who get more exposure to the sun or those who don’t use proper sun-protection. Smokers are also more prone to early signs of aging and wrinkles.

Nasal lines or bunny lines form across and down the side of the nasal bridge and are caused by our normal, everyday expressions such as squinting and laughing.

Marionette lines appear at the outer corners of the mouth and usually cause the mouth to turn downwards, making us appear unhappy looking and older than are actual age.

Upper lip lines that present as vertical lines from the upper of lower lips are most commonly referred to as smoker lines or lipstick lines. They usually form as a result of volume and collagen loss that occurs with age, in addition to the repetitive movement of the tissue from muscular activity

It is also common for many of us to develop sagging jowls that can look similar to orange peel, with a ‘cobbled’ effect. This cobbling and crêping of the skin is usually a result of the repetitive contractions of the chin muscle which creates thin, crossed lines that give the chin an unattractive and damaged look.

Treatment: Dr Habib will create a bespoke treatment for you depending on your skin type and the type of lines that are affecting your face. Treatments range from anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, Osmosis Skincare or Fractora.

Loss Of Lip Volume

As we age our lips become thinner as our collagen and hyaluronic acid levels reduce. Thin lips can look ageing and correction of this can be achieved in a number of ways that will not only replenish the volume but also improve the hydration levels of the lips. At Bella Clinic, Dr Habib has a number of non surgical procedures that can re-define the contours of the lips and provide fullness and volume, giving plump and luscious lips.

Treatment: Dermal fillers.

Dull Complexion and Eye Bags

Do you find you still look tired even after a good night’s sleep? When your skin doesn’t look good – you don’t feel good.

Dull skin and dark circles under your eyes can be caused by many factors including poor general health, overload of dead skin cells, ineffective skin care, diet and lifestyle as well as high bacteria levels.

The delicate skin around the eyes is very prone to loss of elasticity and collagen causing a lax appearance. Semi circular lines and grooves cause depressions known as tear troughs. These depressions can make the eyes look sunken and produce the illusion of darkening around the eyes, resulting in dark circles or tired eyes.

Treatment: Dr Habib will assess your skin and work out a treatment specific to your needs. Treatments include dermal fillers, PRP, Mesotherapy, Fractora and Osmosis Skincare.
